Summary of Position:
Your time will be split between various engineering duties (approximately 30%) and manufacturing engineering (approximately 70%). Develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. Provide support to company R&D efforts. Work closely with and provide support to the Operations Manager.  Provide leadership and guidance to promote revenue, profitability and growth. Oversee and ensure production efficiency, quality, and cost effective management of resources. This includes but is not limited to, meeting customer requirements, managing manufacturing assembly systems, inventory control and personnel management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Using manufacturing engineering practices, you are responsible for writing and updating manufacturing instructions.
Manage the successful transition of new products, technology, and people into the production arena.
Write appropriation requests and prepare quotes.
Participate in concurrent engineering design reviews.
Evaluate and approve drawings, specs and other documents.
Design and procure tools/equipment.
Support R&D prototyping activities of new product development.
Evaluate and solve production problems.
Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators.
Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. .
Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
Maintains product and process data base by writing computer programs; entering data.
Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Enforce safety standards and enhance the companys safety culture.
Requirements of Education / Experience / Skills:
Four-year degree in Industrial or Aeronautical Engineering.
Familiar with assembly of fixed wing single engine aircraft.
Knowledge of FAA regulations pertaining to LSA required
Ability to design fixtures for machining and assembly
Working knowledge of industrial engineering and quality engineering
Thorough knowledge of Engineering documentation management
Knowledge of Product life management
Ability to use SolidWorks
Working knowledge of ERP for small business
Very familiar with lean manufacturing concept and tools
